Re: Limits to Growth

I got caught in a do loop ... registered as suggested for full text version, and keep getting a "only available to subscribers" note. Boo.

Re: Model building in pair-programming mode

Len,

I'm working with Gene (he might deny that!) on the protocols for collaboration using InsightMaker. I would be interested in what you have learned about simultaneous work.

Re: Birds nest diagrams as a symptom of the need for SD

Jack, thanks for weighing in on this. I was just telling Gene Bellinger that I had received the article from two friends, unknown to each other. Of course they are referring to the A-COIN model I was inquiring about not long ago in search of the model developers. In my response to them you can see m...

Re: Insight Maker: Build SD Models On-Line

Though I have not actively participated in Gene's Thoughts on Interaction program using Insight Maker , I have taken some time to walk through the program and find it to be of excellent quality. It has immediate utility to relatively new modelers, but the web-based approach of Insight Maker offers s...

Re: Is the forum moribund?

Has anyone noticed what Gene Bellinger is doing over on his Systems Thinking World site on LinkedIn? http://www.linkedin.com/groupAnswers?viewQuestions=&gid=2639211&forumID=3&sik=1264809815024 A different audience, but quite a bit more traffic. Though I didn't respond to the poll I will say that the...

Re: Vensim model on Colbert Report?

Perhaps it just means that the underlying problem is not well understood. I suspect that is an accurate statement. But you make it sound like that's a bad thing. I beleive one of the greatest benefits of building and displaying models is that it gets the assumptions on the table ... the strength of...

Vensim model on Colbert Report?

I was watching Stephen Colbert's show this evening and was amazed to see him waving around a Vensim model with the title "Afghanistan Stability: COIN Model" (That would be "counterinsurgency.) I did a few searches, found references to it and a picture, but not the model. Since it was built for or by...

Re: A long delay - awareness of global warming (and cooling?)

I suspect the Reuters article originated with Spencer Weart, author of The Discovery of Global Warming. It was a great read and is available for the downloading from http://www.aip.org/history/climate/

Re: Reflecting on a news item ...

Bill, Wow. Your reply provides a connection to another reinforcing loop that came across my virtual desk this morning: Why the News Is Not the Truth Harvard Business Review Article The news media and the government are entwined in a vicious circle of mutual manipulation, mythmaking, and self-interes...
