Conference Scholarships

Conference Scholarships

The Society offers scholarships to help cover the cost of conference registration fees. The scholarships do not cover travel or accommodation costs. Scholarships are open to anyone (not just students), and are awarded based on a combination of a financial need statement and a written work description.

To apply for a scholarship, log in to the Web Portal Submission System and click on “Award and Scholarship Information” located on your User Menu page. In your application, you should provide a brief paragraph that explains why you require financial assistance, and how your attendance at the conference will be of benefit to your community.

If you have already submitted a paper for the conference or Student-Organized Colloquium, there is no need to restate your content as the reviewers will have access to your submission. However, if you have not submitted anything, you will need to provide some material showcasing your work in System Dynamics.

After the conference submission deadline (but before the scholarship deadline), you can upload your work as an “other” type. Successful scholarship applicants will be notified shortly after the notifications of paper acceptances have been sent. Funding for these scholarships comes from both the System Dynamics Society and the Sponsor-A-Scholar program.

Contact Us if you have any questions. Scholarship award winners will be notified on May 9th.

Applications Deadline: April 15, 2024

Barry Richmond Scholarship Award

Established in 2007 by isee systems to honor and continue the legacy of its founder, Barry Richmond. Barry was devoted to helping others become better “Systems Citizens”. It was his mission to make Systems Thinking and System Dynamics accessible to people in all fields and professions.

It is presented annually to a deserving Systems Thinking/System Dynamics practitioner whose work demonstrates a desire to expand the field or to apply it to current social issues. Applicants are considered based on their quality of work as well as financial needs. The recipient receives a $1,000 cash scholarship to help offset the cost of attending the conference.

Applications Deadline: May 21, 2024
