You are cordially invited to Anne M. Johnson‘s Ph.D. dissertation defense, which will be held at 9:00 AM (Boston time) on Monday, April 22nd, on the WPI campus in the Higgins House’s Great Hall .
Anne’s research investigates how a synthesis between traditional wargaming techniques and system dynamics modeling can be used to develop criteria to evaluate game design and learning objectives for strategists and strategies. Anne’s results include (a) the creation of an original system dynamics war game, (b) the development of a repeatable method for evaluating how well a system dynamics game has represented a messy problem space such that participants can better understand how their decisions lead to changes in system behavior, and (c) the construction of a rubric that can be used to evaluate changes to dimensions of systems thinking in game participants. Her findings include statistically significant changes to dimensions of the participant’s systems thinking abilities after participation in the game.
If you cannot attend Anne’s defense in person, you will be able participate via Zoom (see the “Join” button below). Supervisor: Mike Radzicki.
